XC del Montello - a cross country race in the Prosecco area

After the VSS race the day before in S. Cristina/Gröden (short report hier ->) the racing desire of some of the youngsters was not yet satisfied:
so on Sunday morning at 6am Jakob Weger and Julia Kostner set off for Nervesa della Battaglia (Treviso) to take part in the cross country race XC del Montello there - which was also rated as the regional championship of the Veneto.

Despite the early departure in the morning, the journey was unnecessarily prolonged due to a navigation problem. Once we arrived there, there was unfortunately no time to ride through the entire course and take a look at it; the race start for the first category (Women's Open and Junior) was already at 9 am.
Our junior racers had their scheduled start at 12 noon; the weather was midsummer, the track was dry and dusty. The start was at noon for all 13 and 14 year olds at the same time: so Jakob and Julia were on the track together, and both had 2 laps to complete. And the two of them had a good day today: both Jakob and Julia were able to keep up with the front of their age group, and so they took 4th place (Jakob) and 2nd place (Julia) after just under half an hour of racing.
