MendelRace Uphill – Results list

German dominance with a one-two finish on the Überetsch local mountain – new course records set once again on the Mendel Pass

26-year-old Quirin Haidl from Bavaria (Radteam IMPULS) prevailed in a sprint finish from a group of five and won in a new record time on his debut. Julia Jedelhauser from the Allgäu (LeXXi Racing), already a winner of the TOUR Transalp and Giro delle Dolomiti, dominated the women’s classification and also set a new course record.

Eppan, South Tyrol – April 12, 2026 – The ninth edition of the popular mountain race up the Mendel Pass once again attracted countless cyclists from home and abroad to Eppan this year.  In the men’s race, alongside record-holder Philip Götsch and Franz Wieser (both ITA), the entire top 10 from last year were back at the start; in the women’s race, last year’s winner Julia Sörgel (AUT) was delighted to be back in racing after recovering from a serious illness.

Bright sunshine and pleasant temperatures provided the backdrop to this outstanding cycling event. Right from the start of the race, a very fast pace was set, which was maintained over the first few kilometres by a group of 20 riders. The DigiSprint was won by last year’s winner and record holder Philip Götsch (ITA; Fontanari.it), after which a six-man leading group formed comprising the two South Tyroleans Götsch and Franz Wieser (Rodes Val Badia), the two Austrians Rene Pammer and Christian Oberngruber (next125 Hackl Lebensräume), and the two Germans Quirin Haidl and Manuel Popp (Radteam IMPULS e.V.). This group controlled the race by maintaining a consistently high pace, building a steady lead over the rest of the field.

The race remained very exciting: the group stayed compact right up to the final kilometres, with a few minor attacks in between but to no avail. At the start of the final hairpin bends, Manuel Popp was forced to drop back, whilst the leading group stayed together until the final bend.  The showdown then took place over the final 300 metres: the group sprinted, and it was ultimately Quirin Haidl who crossed the finish line first, closely followed by Philip Götsch and Christian Oberngruber.

In the women’s race, it soon became clear that Julia Jedelhauser (GER) from Team LeXXi Racing had the strongest legs on the day. She won both the sprint classification and the women’s classification in a new personal best time. Behind her, the two Austrians Melanie Geiger (Bikeworks Race-Team) and 2025 MendelRace winner Julia Sörgel (Team Auto Brosch) took second and third places on the podium.
