TOUR Transalp 2019 - stage #3

Kaltern am See -> Tonale Pass (shortened stage)

Originally, the course of the stage was planned over the Passo Gavia. However, a mudslide forced the organizers to change the route at short notice. In the end it was shortened: the official stage finish was after 85 kilometers on the Passo del Tonale (1,883m). The rest of the route to
Bormio is "rolled" but no longer timed.
Our two dynamic bikers Richard and Christian reached the pass after 3:26 hours, and could thus keep their good ranking from the previous day.

In tomorrow's 4th stage, the participants will enjoy a detour to Switzerland, although "enjoyment" is certainly the wrong word: starting from Bormio, the route leads up to Livigno, located at 1,800 m above sea level. On the way there, however, the Umbrail Pass (2,503 m), the Ofen Pass (2,149 m), the Bernina Pass (2,328 m) and, last but not least, the Forcola di Livigno (2,315 m) have to be climbed, before descending to the village in the direction of the stage finish after a strenuous 133 kilometers and another energy-sapping 3,450 meters of altitude.
