Beat Hauser reports from Gran Canaria

11/4/2011

"Gran Canaria was a beautiful and interesting time. I was able to gain a lot of experience and, of course, make a lot of new acquaintances. It was a big strain at the beginning, riding for around ten hours every day. The body can get used to these enormous strains at some point, but mentally there are often big difficulties that you have to deal with.

Since I chose this for myself, I know that such problems arise again and again, and I have to deal with them. Staying on the island is ideal for me, as I don't have the opportunity to ride the number of passes and kilometres here in winter. Besides, it's beautiful and ideal for me to do my daily workload on Gran Canaria. The only thing I missed in the two and a half months was my little girl and my girlfriend. Apart from that, it was always a normal daily routine, no sign of boredom.
Now I am back home. I haven't had any problems adjusting. My daily workload here continues as normal, I can already ride the first mountain passes here, and I continue to collect my kilometres. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone who accompanies me on my tours.

P.S. It was a great relief for me when four people from my Team Dynamic Bike Team visited me and accompanied me for ten days. Thank you."
