Olympic participant Fabian Heidegger in the Dynamic Bike Team Eppan

The 20-year-old surfing pro bought his first racing bike at the age of 15. Meanwhile, Fabian completes a regular training programme on the bike and rides around 8,000 km per year. His favourite route in the Überetsch is, of course, the Mendel Pass. Especially in winter it is important to build up the form for the long surf season. For this, long units are done at low intensities. The condition becomes noticeable when surfing in light winds. Surfers with a strong physical condition can build up more pressure on the sail by using a special technique.

The Kalterer completed the most demanding tour so far with the national cycling team of New Zealand in Auckland. On a training ride of over 200 km in December 2007, the dynamic biker gave everything to keep up with the hilly route and could not be shaken off.

A first season highlight for Fabian will take place this year in Tel Aviv (Israel) on the occasion of the European Windsurfing Championships.
