A Dynamic Bike Team club outing with a competitive edge

Our member Frank Ansorge had already raved about it at last year’s inaugural event: the Ostalb Giro was “a truly fantastic event, with a range of different routes to suit all levels of strength and endurance”.
And so it came to pass that board member Martin Rainer declared this year’s 2nd Ostalb Giro a club outing and organised the weekend of 13–14 June 2026 accordingly.

A total of 13 Dynamic cyclists aged between 17 and 69 signed up, arriving early on Saturday morning. Immediately after checking in at the hotel, we headed straight to the start-finish area to collect our race numbers. A visit to the exhibition and festival grounds there was a must, including a stop (and some shopping) at sponsor Sanct-Bernhard-Sport.

On Sunday, the action got underway, with different start times depending on the chosen route:
Frank, Lorenz, Thomas and Johannes had to get up early; for them, the starting gun went off as early as 7 am (230 and 160 km routes). Everyone else was able to have a slightly longer breakfast, with starts at 8 and 9 am respectively (100 and 60 km routes).
The weather offered ideal temperatures for a day of sport, but also featured some strong gusts of wind – smart drafting became essential.
And even though the event wasn’t officially a race – there was plenty of competition and some serious pedalling. There was also a timed mountain classification after kilometre 59 on a 1.5-kilometre section with 140 metres of elevation gain.

Shortly before 12 noon, the first Dynamic Bikers crossed the finish line, those on the 60 and 100-kilometre routes. And it wasn’t long before the next finishers followed (160 km). Last of all, Frank – the only Dynamic Biker on the 230-kilometre route – reached the finish line after just under 9 hours of cycling – respect!
Everyone was satisfied and thrilled with the event and the organisation. And the results are certainly impressive too – see results and downloads below.
Everyone was then presented with a finisher’s medal, followed by the return journey to the hotel for a quick shower, and (with the exception of Frank) the journey home together.
