BIKEFESTIVAL BASEL 2025 (Škoda Swiss Bike Cup) - HC & UCI Junior Series

The ‘Am Schänzli’ equestrian arena in Basel was the venue for the fifth stage of the Škoda Swiss Bike Cup 2025:
the youth races and cross-country competitions for the junior, U23 and elite categories took place on the grounds around the horse racing track on the weekend of 16 and 17 August.

Once again, it was Gregor Pinggera from the Epaner Dynamic Bike Team who wanted to compete with the international elite and was willing to make the six-hour journey (which also involved crossing three Alpine passes).
With no UCI points in the current racing year, this unfortunately meant that he had to line up at the back of the field - i.e. starting position no. 73 - and pedal very hard right from the start. He managed to fight his way up to 51st place in the first of the six laps and gained another 13 places in the next two laps. However, all physical reserves diminish over time, especially on the long flat sections where he was on his own. And so, after six intense laps and 1 hour 13 minutes of riding, the chase ended with a respectable 40th place in the U23 category.
