Great performance by Gregor Pinggera at the national MTB marathon championships

On Sunday, 6 July, this year's national MTB marathon championships took place in Borno (BS) as part of the ‘BIKEnjoy Valle Camonica’ event.
Starting and finishing in Borno, a Lombardy municipality with just under 2,400 inhabitants, participants had to complete a 68 km course with 3,100 metres of elevation gain.

Our best marathon biker, Gregor Pinggera, was there representing the Dynamic Bike Team; the 22-year-old from Eppan was hoping for a good result in this competition.
The weather was mixed, with heavy cloud cover. Gregor was able to stay in a small chasing group in the first half of the race; then, halfway through, it started to rain heavily, making the course slippery and selective, especially on the descents. Gregor did not want to take any unnecessary risks here and rode a little more cautiously as a result.

In the end, Gregor crossed the finish line in 4:15, coming in 36th overall (28th in the Open Men category) – and an excellent 3rd in the U23 category, which unfortunately was not scored separately.
