Capoliveri Legend Cup - UCI Marathon World Cup

After a one-year hiatus, the island of Elba once again hosted two high-profile MTB events:
an MTB marathon (Capoliveri Legend Cup) and a cross-country race (Capoliveri Legend XCO).
The marathon on Saturday, 10 May, was held on two routes: the 40 km Classic route (1,600 m elevation gain) and the 60 km route (2,400 m elevation gain), which was also the first stage of the 2025 UCI Marathon World Series. Our junior rider Sofia Marie Schieder from Sarntal took part in an MTB marathon for the first time and chose the Classic route for her debut. And her first international appearance was crowned with success: Sofia Marie finished third overall in the women's category and also won her age group as the fastest junior in the field! Uli Prast also competed on the same route and finished 36th in his age group after just under three and a half hours.
Three Dynamic Bikers were competing on the marathon route: Moritz Giuliani and David Cench in the amateur category, and Gregor Pinggera in the elite men's category, chasing World Cup points.
Moritz had good legs right from the start and was able to maintain his pace as planned: he crossed the finish line after 4.5 hours in a very good 29th place (Master 1). David had a bad day: having just recovered from an illness, he simply lacked the strength, but still managed to struggle to the finish line. For him, it was a 6.5-hour ordeal, which he finally finished in 182nd place in his age group.
Gregor was finally able (and had) to compete with the world's best marathon bikers. He rode consistently according to his pace chart and reached the finish line in Capoliveri in 69th place in the elite men's category – 4th place in the U23 category – just under 20 minutes behind the winner, Belgian marathon national champion Wout Alleman.
