MTB VSS Youth Trophy in Eppan-Appiano

The series of mountain bike races for children returns to Appiano

After a fun and successful weekend in Val Sarentino (report below), this year the VSS race series returned to Appiano:
on Saturday 11 June, more than 150 children from all over South Tyrol competed against their peers in a cross-country mountain bike race.

Unfortunately, a week before the start of the race, the Autonomous Province of South Tyrol expressed a negative opinion on the choice of route (which we regret very much for various reasons, of course!). Therefore, the coaches had to find an alternative route as quickly as possible. In the end, a suitable solution was found so that the race could go ahead as planned.

The weather was at its best and the race started punctually at 11 a.m. with the first category. Then the races for the respective age groups took place, each with its own route.
With a total of 40 children, the Appiano team had the largest number of participants of all the teams present and was thus able to stand out in colour at its home race. But not only in terms of colours: the children also led in almost all age categories, and so the Dynamic Bike Team Appiano finally managed to win the team classification for the first time.

The Dynamic Bike Team Appiano would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who participated, associations and companies:
first and foremost, all the volunteers who ‘sacrificed’ a wonderful Saturday for the club - THANK YOU!
Thanks also go to the association ‘Friends of German Shepherds’ (Freunde Deutscher Schäferhunde) for providing their area / to the Appiano Mountain Rescue Service for medical assistance / to the Pliger butcher's shop in Appiano for the delicious meat products / the Plazotta bakery for the bread and pretzels / the Zuber beverage company for the refreshing drinks, as well as Stuffer AG and Loacker AG for the excellent products for all the children who participated.

Of course, we would also like to thank the Municipality of Appiano for its support.
We would like the Autonomous Province of Bolzano/South Tyrol to be a little more sensitive: in an area designated as a ‘sports zone’, it should be possible to organise a 3-hour race for children – even though the ‘requirement for a cycle path with a minimum width of 1.5 metres’ is not met over a 100-metre stretch.
