Sunrise on Monte Roen

Early Bird Tour: by MTB to the Roen at sunrise

The sunrise tour on Monte Roen is relatively short but hard; you can do it all summer long, even without a full moon. However, there may still be isolated snowfields in May, so you should choose your equipment accordingly.

The start is directly from the Mendel Pass; armed with headlamps, we follow the road, which is asphalted at the beginning but soon becomes a gravel road. After about 3.6 km we pass the Halbweghütte, after another 2.8 km the Roen Alm. From here the hard part of the MTB tour begins: the steep ascent to the summit. You have to climb 340 metres in altitude over a distance of just under 2 kilometres.
Once you reach the top, the view rewards you for your efforts!
A little tip: even in high summer, the temperatures are in the single digits, i.e. very low, and there is often an icy wind. A change of clothes and a windbreaker are a MUST for a relaxed summit experience.
