Monte Roen

From Eppan to the Mount Roen

On the tour to the Roen we cycle to the highest elevation of the entire Mendelkamm or Nonsberg Alps. The panorama from up there is unique: the Dolomites, "King Ortler", the Brenta and Adamello groups, as well as the provincial capital of Bolzano and the south of South Tyrol are all in view.

On the ascent, the asphalt part of the Mendelpass road, on the first part of the route, can be largely bypassed:
with the Steinegger-Matschatsch and Boos-Tumortal forest paths.

Those who would like to do the ascent of the Roen as a round tour can extend the tour to the south and cycle on from the "summit" of the Roen - via the Verbrennte Egg and the Schwarzer Kopf - to the Grauner Joch. From there a forest road and a trail (attention: only for experienced bikers!) lead down to Graun and Tramin.
