The Dynamic Bike Team Eppan ASV cycling club currently has a total of 201 members (as of 10/12/2022), with over 80 enthusiastic girls and boys under the age of 18.
Of these, around 25 young members aged between 8 and 15 regularly take an active part in the various racing events at home and abroad.

Youth work

YOUNG TALENTS / TRAINING

Our main discipline is mountain biking.
We look after children and young people from the age of about 6, and accompany and support them in their development up to the age of 18 (junior category).

Divided into different performance groups, we distinguish between the VSS training group (7-12 years) and the Südtirol Cup training group (13-16 years). From the age of 17, the girls and boys train almost exclusively on their own without supervision.
The two performance groups are trained by the certified mountain bike trainers Ivan Endrizzi, Moritz & Manuel Giuliani, Lorenz Psaier, Denise Meraner and Andreas Pichler. Depending on age, the training sessions take place 1-3 times a week; mostly on the MTB, rarely also on the road bike (in spring).

The coaches are supported by various coaches such as Michael Volgger, former junior rider of the Dynamic Bike Team and currently active in the services of the Junior Team South Tyrol, as well as Luisa Tienghi, committee member and enthusiastic mountain biker.

In the meantime, youth training is offered by the club almost all year round; new this year is the indoor training for youths from 12 years of age (South Tyrol Cup training group), where mainly coordination and stabilisation/balance are trained under the supervision of trained coaches at "Pro Motus" in Bolzano. The association pays half of the costs.

In addition to the training sessions, the young athletes are also accompanied to the various races (South Tyrol, Northern Italy and neighbouring countries) and looked after on site.
Highlights this year were the MTB Youth Italy Championship in Bielmonte, the Italy Cup races in Courmayeur and the Internazionali d'Italia Series Race on Elba.

MTB CHILDREN'S COURSE for children from 7-12 years old

In mid-April we started our annual MTB children's course, which lasted until mid-June and ended with the VSS race in Eppan.

As every year, the turnout was once again quite large: a total of 50 girls and boys were taught riding techniques and skills by our certified bike instructors and supervisors until the end of the school day, whereby of course the fun and enjoyment of mountain biking was not neglected.

Of the group that took part in the taster course, 2 children remained after the end of the course and became a permanent part of the Dynamic Bike Team and continued the training course with Lorenz Psaier and Denise Meraner throughout the summer.

Racing Group - Adults 18 years and over

MOUNTAIN BIKE AND ROAD BIKE

Our tireless racers, described by many as "fanatical", train all year round. In the winter months, they also keep fit by ski touring and cross-country skiing, among other things, and also take part in various races nationwide. As a rule, the individual athletes train independently and usually also meet on weekends for joint rides.

You can then find them at the start of the most famous races nationwide and also outside our national borders, such as the Imster Radmarathon, Dolomiti Superbike, Ötztaler Radmarathon and Hero Südtirol Dolomites, to name but a few.

MTB ENDURO

This mountain bike discipline is enjoying ever-growing enthusiasm around the globe.

Started the previous year as an "experiment", the club wanted to take on a new challenge: with Willy Stricker from Passeir, an enthusiastic enduro rider joined the team and took part in various races in Tuscany. The highlight was then the third place in the MTB Enduro Italy Championship.

His enthusiasm attracted other (mainly young) bikers, and so we currently have 6 enduro bikers - equipped with their own team gear - who rock the (downhill) trails throughout the Alpine region.

MTB VSS/RAIFFEISEN YOUTH TROPHY

As in previous years, we organised a VSS race at the sports field in Rungg in May. In cooperation with the association "Freunde Deutscher Schäferhunde" (Friends of German Shepherds) - who made their entire area available to us - our children's race could be held as in the previous year, and was also a complete success this year! A total of almost 160 children and young people from all over the country took part. This year's race also served as the final race of our children's taster course.

The event was well organised thanks to the many volunteers; we again received high praise from the VSS and the participating clubs, also regarding the course and the atmosphere.

MENDELRACE

The race from Eppan to the Mendel Pass - a racing bike race for amateurs - has been part of the South Tyrolean race series "South Tyrol.Mountain.Cup" since the first edition in 2016.

This race is always held at the beginning of the season in April and enjoys great popularity and a constantly high number of participants every year. The cooperation and support of Arthur Röggl and the entire Sanvit team also makes this an important event in Eppan and the surrounding area.

After the corona-related cancellations in 2020 and 2021, the time had come again this year: on Saturday 9 April the starting shot was fired at the St. Michael/Eppan winery for the MendelRace, the opening of the 5-race South Tyrol.Mountain.Cup 2022.

With 106 participants, the numbers from previous years were not reached, but you could feel the enthusiasm of each individual to be part of a race event again. Moreover, the MendelRace still has its appeal, as the moderate gradient and the (low) altitude of the pass are very suitable for the season and the shape of the participants.

The reach of the event became clear for the first time this year through a request from the largest German-language racing bike magazine "TOUR-Magazin": a separate 6-page article was published in the June issue of the magazine ... a very valuable advertisement for the race and the entire area.

The course for 2023 has already been set: the 6th edition of the race up the Mendel Pass is planned for Saturday 15 April.
