Successful MTB race weekend in Courmayeur (AO): 1st Italian Short Track Championship & Youth Italy Cup

At the foot of Mont Blanc in the Aosta Valley, the 3-day "Courmayeur MTB Event" took place from 17-19 June: the programme included the first edition of an Italian championship in the discipline of short track, as well as the 3rd stop of the Youth Italy Cup.

It all started on Friday with the 1st Italian Short Track Championships - a 10-minute sprint race reserved for Italy's TOP50 in each age group.
Julia Kostner took part in this new discipline at the Italian Championships, which were held for the first time, and achieved 7th place in the field of participants together with the girls one year older than her.

On Saturday, the Cross Country races of the Youth Italy Cup took place: in addition to Julia, Paul Marschall and Leon Ambach also took part.
Paul and Leon started at 9 a.m., the field of participants was relatively high with 92 racers, as usual. Leon had a very bad day and had to give up the race already in the 2nd of 3 laps because of nausea. Paul was in the middle of the field for the whole race and finished in 53rd place.
At 11 a.m. all the girls' categories started, and Julia had 2 rounds on the programme. She had a great start the day before, but this time she had slight "contact" problems with a competitor and lost ground at the beginning. But she fought her way back to the front, benefited from a slip by the competitor in front of her, and surprised her coach (and the race announcer) with third place in her age group.
