Rampikissima 1999

The fourth and penultimate race of the 1999 Rampitour series before the summer break was once again a first-class event.
1,970 mountain bikers were at the start in Imer (near San Martino di Castrozza). There were also 5 of our riders on the 49 km long route. Right after the start, Walter Prossliner and Martin Giovanazzi were able to keep up with the leading group on the first 10 km climb. After the first descent, they rode at their own pace. In the end, Walter managed to get into the top 200 riders. Martin finished 8 minutes behind the top 300 mountain bikers. Extreme caution was required on the wet course, as many riders had to accept a crash, including Antonio Anglani, who rode a consistent race from the start. Plagued by cramps, he did not reach the 3-hour mark, but with a time of 3h04 he was quite satisfied.
Our hobby riders Reinhard Sinn and Reinhard Sanin, whose field was very strong this time, also coped well with the course. Unfortunately, they were also caught in a downpour and had to ride a little more carefully on the soggy trails than the first hundred participants who had already crossed the finish line.
To summarise: the race was very varied. Fast descents, steep climbs, technical trails and flat terrain characterised the route, so everyone got their money's worth.

And this is what the final ranking looked like:
160.  Walter Prossliner  2h27min
277 . Martin Giovanazzi  2h35min
349.  Reinhard Sanin  2h40min
638.  Reinhard Sinn  2h51min
904.  Antonio Anglani  3h04min

We wish our Rampitour participants all the best for the last race - the Rampilonga, which will take place on 12 September 1999.
Attention members: The club clothing has arrived and can be picked up at Sanvit.
