Review of the past season and preview of 1993

For all those members who were unable to attend the General Meeting held on 1 December, here is a brief summary of what happened.

The old and new president Christian Hafner opened the meeting with a review of the past season, some of which had been successful. He mentioned the various activities, such as participation in the village clean-up in Kaltern, the organisation of the 1st Kaltern MTB Cup, the annual bike tour to Jesolo, participation in the Kaltern village festival, the club race on the Mendel and, last but not least, the successful participation of some of our athletes in various road and MTB races. As sporting successes, the President mentioned the victory of the CSAIN regional championship by our road cycling team, the achievement of the regional mountain bike championship title by Albert Rinner and the generally good performance and, above all, sporting behaviour of our athletes in the various cycling disciplines.

The following guidelines have been set for the coming season. In winter, we will go jogging, tobogganing and, above all, cross-country skiing together. An internal tobogganing and cross-country skiing championship is not ruled out. However, despite the cold, some of us cycle throughout the winter (mainly on Lake Garda). In spring, we start a joint training programme for beginners and advanced cyclists. The decision was made to focus more on the touring cyclists in general. Weekly tours, which are worked out together, are therefore on the programme. The wish was expressed to take part in some cycling marathons (Ötztal-Samson etc.) at home and abroad. Furthermore, with the permission of the Sanvit company, a notice board will soon be installed in front of their shop to provide general information. Sanvit has also agreed to take over the sale of our membership cards. As last year, the contribution is 15,000 lire. Our racers will also be taking part in the most important regional and national events next year, perhaps even with the support of a financially strong sponsor. It should also be mentioned that the racing licences lose their validity on 31 October and can therefore already be renewed.

In general, the club management is worried about the next generation. We are already beginning to wonder whether cycling as such is too strict for the youth of today. We would be delighted if new members, including women, were to prove us wrong. We are available to help and advise every new member.
At the end of the meeting, new elections were on the programme. As already mentioned, President Christian Hafner was confirmed in office, while Vice President Johann Telfner had to resign due to time constraints and was replaced by Marcello Paternoster. Apart from that, everything remained more or less the same - as we all know, you shouldn't change what works well. We continue to meet on Friday evenings at the Boarischen Hof in Eppan and are always happy to see new faces.
