“Stone Men”-Cairns

MTB Tour to the "Stoanernen Mandln" (stone man cairns)

The legendary piles of stones on the high plateau of Merano 2000, called "Stoanerne Mandln", are known far beyond the borders.
Our tour leads via Schlaneid, the Möltner Joch and the Möltner Kaser to the 2,003 m high Schöneck in the Sarntal valley, where this cult site is located. The planned lunch can be taken in one of the catered huts, which are located a few cycling kilometres further north.
On the way back, we choose the direct descent towards Schlaneid and the mountain station of the cable car at the junction at Auener Jöchl. This is where the most technical part of the tour begins: a trail in a class of its own down to Vilpian. Unfortunately, the lower part is currently (2022) not rideable and also closed, so you have to switch to the road above the Vilpian waterfall.

This MTB tour can also be cycled as a half-day tour - always with the support of the Mölten cable car.
