Transiberica Unsupported Ultracycling 2025

Transibérica is the ultimate self-supported road cycling challenge – non-stop across the Iberian Peninsula.

Unlike traditional races, there is no set course: each rider must design their own route while passing through the mandatory checkpoints.
The 2025 edition will start at the Q36.5 headquarters in Bolzano and finish in Bilbao. Along the way, riders will face 10 checkpoints featuring some of the most diverse and demanding climbs and villages across Italy, France, and Spain. In total, it adds up to nearly 2,600 kilometres and over 45,000 metres of elevation gain.

Our long-distance cyclist Karl Paratscha from Girlan is taking part in this ‘Tortour’ together with Andreas Kofler, who also comes from Girlan. Both are competing in the solo category without outside support.
The two had to tackle renowned passes such as the Passo Gavia (2,621 m), the climb to Alpe d'Huez (1,860 m), the Little Saint Bernard (2,188 m) and the Splügen Pass (2,114 m), as well as many more. They cycled over the famous Millau Viaduct (FRA), past the Castillo de Loarre (SPA) and the island of Gaztelugache in the Bay of Biscay.
After 220 hours and 19 minutes, the moment had arrived: Karl Paratscha was the 37th to reach the finish line in the port city of Bilbao – tired but overjoyed: ‘I've taken it easy for the last three days; the sleep deprivation was intense. I also had knee pain. But I'm satisfied – and now I need some sleep.’
Unfortunately, Andreas Kofler was unable to finish the race.
