Good performance of our youngsters at the 2025 MTB Cross Country Youth Italian Championships in Albenga (SV)

On Sunday, 22 June 2025, the national youth MTB cross-country championships took place in Albenga, Liguria.
In addition to Jakob Weger, who has been delivering good results throughout the season, Jakob Giuliani (13 years old) and Moritz Meraner (14 years old) also qualified in their respective age groups (TOP 100 per age group). And it was a hot race...
The course was worthy of an Italian championship: short steep climbs, rapid descents, technically tricky passages with stones and roots... everything that makes an MTB heart beat faster.

The 13-year-old boys kicked off the title races at 9 a.m., including Jakob Giuliani with the high start number 90. The temperatures were already pleasant, and Jakob tried to keep up with the group right from the start. In the last of the three laps, the effort took its toll: Jakob lost a lot of time on the climbs and finished his first national title races in 88th place.

The second start took place at 10 a.m., and now it was Moritz Meraner's turn. He also had a high start number, 97, and started from the back row, trying to make the best of it. A crash in the second lap temporarily threw him back a few positions, but he kept fighting and finished the race in 80th place.

The third and final start for Dynamic Biker was in the afternoon with 15-year-old Jakob Weger: in the now scorching sun, with temperatures above 30° Celsius, he started his race with number 43. He coped well with the heat and the track and made up position after position. At the start of the second of four laps, he was already in 27th place when he noticed a tyre defect halfway through the race. He just managed to make it to the technical zone, but the defect could not be repaired, and the race was unfortunately over for Jakob.

Next weekend, on Friday 27 June 2025 to be precise, the national youth championships in the short track (XCC) discipline will take place, where Julia Kostner will be competing alongside Jakob Weger.
