Enduro World Series 100 - Fassatal-Val di Fassa

Met EWS in Canazei, Val di Fassa/Trentino

Today, Friday 25 June, Val di Fassa – more specifically Canazei – hosted the first round of the 2021 Enduro World Series 100.
At the Fassa Bike Park, both amateurs and professionals battled it out for the best line and the fastest descents: four sections (=stages) had to be tackled as quickly as possible. The participants also spoke of the “most beautiful trail in the Alps” – even though they didn’t have time to admire the wonderful panorama of the Dolomites.

At the start of the Veteran 50+ category was our Enduro rider Willy Stricker – sporting a new kit and brimming with confidence following his victory the previous week. And he shone on this course too: after finishing third in the first stage, he managed to catch up with his Belgian rival ahead of him over the next three descents. At the end of the fourth and final run, Willy was just three-tenths of a second ahead of his rival and could be pleased with the silver medal.
His rival and friend André Fritzenschaft from Germany, however, was simply too strong today, winning with a lead of almost a minute and a half over his pursuers.
