Enduro World Series 2020 Zermatt (SUI)

30/8/2020

After the Enduro World Series was forced to postpone or cancel most of this year’s calendar due to the exceptional circumstances surrounding the coronavirus, the well-known Swiss mountain town of Zermatt (1,609 m) hosted the first round of the series. Against the stunning backdrop of the Matterhorn, the races for the first round of the downhill series took place last weekend.

Our rider Willy Stricker from Val Passiria took part in this event and felt he had a good chance of making it onto the podium.
Friday’s picture-perfect weather gave way to rain, thunderstorms and snow, with temperatures around 5 degrees Celsius. The start of the race was postponed by two hours, and the course was shortened slightly; nevertheless, the two runs went ahead. After a rather cautious first run, Willy took a risk in the second run, and managed to secure 5th place overall with his third run.
